An intriguing hanging sculpture that happens to have use as both a chair and a swing, the Loom Swing Chair has multiple cultural references. Taking inspiration from the cascading threads of the Jacquard loom, sending patterns from the punch cards to the warp and weft, the traditional charpoy (bed) that are woven with webbing (niwar), and the wooden embroidery hoop, used by artisans across India, the chair is both artistic and practical.

The Loom Swing Chair is made of strong silk bands ascending to a bent wood hoop where they are woven together making a surface that is both a seat and a swing. The top and the ring for the woven seat are in beech wood, both flexible and strong, with a natural finish. The chair provokes conversation, and creates a sculptural accent for an office, home or veranda.
The Loom Swing Chair was made for AKFD in collaboration with Atmosphere for ID2016.
